Night Vision Wraps, Matbock Skins, and Who We Are

Night Vision Wraps, Matbock Skins, and Who We Are

When you are looking for a wrap to cover your night vision, laser, or thermal devices, some materials look the part, but other materials perform right. If you’ve ever seen clothing, vinyl, or plastics “glow” under nods, you have seen an example of underperforming materials.

Who are Incognito Acquisitions? We are a 100% disabled veteran owned and operated small business out of the central Virginia area, and we’re focused on making premium night vision wraps that don’t just look good, but mask signature across both visible and infrared spectrums.

That starts with choosing the right material.

Why we use Matboack Skins:

Our wraps are cut from MATBOCK’s Skins material which is a purpose-built fabric developed for strength, near-IR compliance, and thermal performance. Skins is engineered for environments where materials are actively observed, not just seen. Matbock's Skins fabric is an adhesive backed version of their popular Ghost Lite material, same properties, same performace, and using high quality laminated adhesives. Why Matbock? When we first jumped into the world of night vision, we jumped in with both feet. The not just financially irresponsible, but almost financially crippling decision to see in the dark ended with the purchase of a set of used PVS-31A’s, whole hog indeed.

The previous owner of the nods left Matbock’s wrap on, and we have used them personally for half a decade. Between the prior owner and myself the nods (and the wrap on them) was used in sim shoothouses, night hog and predator hunting, taken diving, brought on exercises in multiple night operations for various units of the U.S. military, used in snowstorms, humid forests, arid deserts, coastal areas, and more all across the United States. After all of that, the wrap still performs exceptionally well when stacked against the competition using various other materials and we found that we couldn’t find similar wraps for other devices we commonly used. So we did the obvious thing – more financially irresponsible decisions. We struck a deal with Matbock to use their material, laser-cut on our equipment, to provide support for our favorite devices.

Ghost Lite Specs:

  • Weight: 6 oz/yd² (240 g/m²)
  • Failure Strength: 264 lbf/in (46 N/25mm)
  • Strain at Failure: 2.9%
  • Slit Tear Strength: 110 lbf (489 N)
  • Near-IR compliance for reduced detectability under IR systems
  • Swift thermal conductivity for miniming thermal buildup and signature
  • High abrasion resistance for holding up under real use
  • Hydrophobic properties for performance in wet environments
  • Decontamination-ready construction for use in extreme environments

Why Material Choice Matters

Most night vision wraps on the market prioritize aesthetics, this isn’t a bad thing. Those materials can easily be found in numerous patterns for a good price, but under IR observation many of those materials reflect differently than surrounding surfaces or shine under active interrogation from IR light sources, this means they may not reduce detectability. That problem is our focus: dual-band signature reduction in both the visible and infrared spectrum, because reducing one without the other just isn’t good enough for us.

As we expand our product line, we are initially providing support for some of our favorite devices from Wilcox Industries, There are a TON of usable weapon mounted aiming lasers on the market, but in our opinion these are some of the best. Tragically these devices are under supported for wraps, and we aim to fix that. We are working hard to support the entire current Wilcox lineup, as well as select legacy units. Beyond just function, our design ethos is to make wraps that perform by reducing reflected lux first, and look good second. We strive for function over form, but looking cool is half the battle.

As we expand our product lineup, we plan on offering wraps for a multitude of devices. Companies like Aimpoint have come onboard with this plan and partnered with us so that we can develop wraps for their products as well. If you don’t see a wrap offered for your favorite device, come back soon because we are actively expanding our lineup.

Low Visibility, High Standards.
